Shelving Post Styles



Welded Upright Frames: This can be called an upright or a frame and is the vertical unit supporting the shelving system.

Angle Posts: A 90° L-shape angle that provides vertical support for all styles of shelving. These are used in both starter and add-on shelving units.

T-Posts: A T-shape post that provides vertical support for rivet, bolted, and clip-connection style add-on shelving.

Shelving Glossary of Terms

Here is an overview of some commonly used shelving terms:

Shelf Capacity: Rated by the manufacturer, this is the maximum amount of evenly distributed weight a shelf can safely hold.

Gauge of Steel: Each gauge number relates to the thickness of steel. As the gauge number decreases, the steel becomes thicker.

Starter: Includes 4 shelf posts or 2 uprights frames and a specified number of shelf levels.
